The Business Analyst is responsible for ensuring that client needs are identified, documented, and delivered in a clear, effective, prompt and professional manner.
Duties and Responsibilities:
-Gather detailed business requirements from clients, and assist in defining the requirements
-Work closely with clients to ensure that requirements are well understood, that delivery schedules are met, and that any impediments are identified & brought to the attention of both clients and senior management
-Propose automated solutions to meet those requirements & review with the software development team
-Prepare preliminary quotations for review with management
-Prepare appropriate business and technical documentation that ensures that the requirements and technical solutions are clearly understood
-Review documentation with appropriate groups – manager, Client, development, and QA
-Ensure that all documentation is kept up-to-date and matches the deployed solution
-Ensure that the QA/PS team fully understands the requirements and expectations of each initiative
-Provide project management to ensure that each project moves forward in a timely manner from business requirements to development to QA to deployment
-Work closely with the development team to ensure that work progresses as required to meet project timelines
-Work closely with development management to ensure that the technical solutions are clearly and precisely defined
-Provide subject-matter-expertise where appropriate to other team members, and to the rest of the company
-Work with each of the following groups to obtain the resources necessary to complete each project:
- Senior Management
- Development Management
- Quality Assurance
- Change & Release Management
- Production Support
Job Requirements:
-University degree, college diploma or equivalent professional experience
-3-5 years experience as a Business Analyst or Business Systems Analyst
-7-10 years as an IT professional
-Experience in the insurance industry (property & casualty, life, health or creditor) is a essential
-Excellent communication skills
-Strong customer service orientation
-Extensive client-facing experience with the ability to present a professional image to current and potential clients
-Creative problem-solving skills
-Ability to utilize an “outside the box” approach to finding solutions to business and technical challenges
-A strong technical background, exposure to the following technologies is a definite asset: DB2, Java, Websphere as well as web-services, web-based technologies and “software as a service”
