Duties:

In a small office environment and under the guidance of the Manager – Planning, Research, and Systems Development, the Programmer/Support Analyst is one of two staff responsible for maintaining the smooth operation of the Agency’s technical systems and developing or enhancing technology services and application programs. The incumbent performs the following duties and general related duties as necessary:

- Helps determine user requirements for new features or enhancements to in-house database applications and server resources

- Codes, tests, and implements programming changes

- Creates web-based database applications and enhances current web services

- Updates the corporate website as required

- Helps document system functionality

- Provides general server support and management operations such as user maintenance, oversight of backup services, troubleshooting and maintenance including SQL Server, Exchange, Active Directory, user shares, data backup, system updates, and other server resources

Technical competencies required:

- Considerable knowledge of system design methodology and programming techniques;
 
- Good understanding of the capabilities and limitations of application related hardware and software, and the ability to apply this knowledge to assigned tasks;
 
- Ability to analyze and evaluate business processes and develop solutions for assigned problems;
 
- Public sector experience would be an asset.
 

 
Education requirements:
 
- Two-year diploma in Computer Science or equivalent diploma from a recognized educational institution.
